Re: Mock STARR for 3rd grader

I think if you can keep him home for Mock STAAR that will be the best way to do it. For the actual STAAR, I would suggest calling an ARD meeting to specify "No Online Administration" as one of the requirements for him taking STAAR. This will let you return him to school after the week of a...

Re: Mock STARR for 3rd grader

You can tell him to refuse. You can ask them to help, but it is tough at that age if you can’t keep them home. Does his IEP address written versus online administration of STAAR? What accommodations does he get.

Re: Mock STARR for 3rd grader

Is this a charter school? Online or in person?

Does he have a 504 plan or IEP?

Re: Refusing benchmark testing

Kelly, A few points to think about. When the principal says he would be required to attend tutorials, he is not accurately conveying a statutory or regulatory requirement. He is stating a local campus decision. That means he has the discretion to change that. So the first approach would be to simply...

Re: Refusing benchmark testing

Kelly, your question becomes a little complicated with those facts. Let me try to get you a full answer by Monday. I need to look up a statute to make sure I am right.

Re: Refusing benchmark testing

So I received this from the principal today in regards to Benchmark testing. We kept our daughter home the two days of benchmarking and she returned with a doctors note. I am struggling with the correct response to this as I know that alternatives for STAAR requirements are given but as far as &quo...

Re: attempting to apply for magnet school obstacle child didn't pass STAAR

I would make an open records requests for all standards and admissions procedures relating to magnet programs and then examine them for exceptions. I am certain they have some discretionary language in there. Then you have to orient your efforts towards the discretion they have. But get everything s...
