Opt Out and CPS Referral Threats
Around this time of year we hear sometimes apocryphal and sometimes real stories of schools threatening to refer a parent to CPS if they opt out. Re: 8th grade course selection
First and foremost, I would be very up front with them. Definitely follow up at the end of the year and then also before the new year starts. Make sure you specifically tell them that you do not want him in any STAAR prep classes.

Re: Schindewolf Intermediate Klein ISD
OK, so your situation is your child took the 6th grade assessments and barely failed. This puts you in a slightly different situation than a parent whose kid passed them. The school is required by law to provide accelerated instruction and it does fall under the compulsory attendance law. What the l...

Re: Substitute Assessments Refused Due to PROPOSED Rules
Diane,

Re: Schindewolf Intermediate Klein ISD
So a few questions
Did your kid take STAAR last year? If so how did he do?
Have they stated why he is in the class and why they can’t remove him?
What grade is he in?
Are the classes on his schedule as full class periods?

Requirements to Sub TSI for EOCs
I have a 10th grader who took the TSI exam last year and passed. Last year he took English EOC when he was supposed to been exempt. Last week I sent email to his counselor requesting they update his record to reflect his TSI scores so that he could use it for substitution against English II EOC thi...
