Opt-Out Letter

I have a question and I apologize in advance if I've missed this information anywhere: In the opt-out letter, the bullet points listed as reasons for moral objection repeatedly refer to time lost to testing or taking tests. Should this be changed to "assessments" or is this language general enough that it doesn't matter? I don't want to lose my argument that the STAAR is an assessment and not a test. Thank you for any information!

You can certainly change that to assessments if you wish. The fact that the STAAR is an assessment is something that arises by virtue of the law and the name the legislature gives it, and not by what a school or parent in a letter decides to call it. But for purposes of consistence, there is nothing wrong with making that change. Thank you for using the forum!
